HIPAA Regulations require covered entities to implement a security awareness and training program for all members of its workforce, to conduct training on security, policies, and procedures with respect to protected health information, and to document training. (45 CFR 164.308, 164.530)

HITECH incentives for meaningful use of certified Electronic Health Record systems (EHRs) require staff training under the definition of implementing certified EHR technology. (42 CFR 495 Proposed Rule 2010)
